The URL that shows when doing a search from within WordPress is quite long and human unreadable to some extent. This can be changed to a simpler format.
https://www.1smartchicken.com/?s=php+template

Place the following code anywhere in your child theme’s functions.php document.

function custom_search_url() {
if ( is_search() && ! empty( $_GET['s'] ) ) {
wp_redirect( home_url( "/search/" ) . urlencode( get_query_var( 's' ) ) );
exit();

add_action( 'template_redirect', 'custom_search_url' );This will change the URL to look something like this (we searched for php and template).
