This will display a list of all the tables (by name) in the current database (customers).

MySQL

SHOW TABLES;

Sample Output (will vary):

Tables_in_customers

contact_name
company

SQL Server

SELECT name
FROM sys.tables;

SQL Notes:

  • Any work being done to modify the structure of a database or delete tables or the the database itself should only be done after making a recent backup
