Quick Reference

The SQL Server USER_NAME() function returns the database username based on the specified id. If no id is specified, this function will return the name of the current user.

SELECT USER_NAME(41);

Output

chickenuser

USER_NAME(id_number)

SQL Notes:

  • Any work being done to modify the structure of a database or delete tables or the the database itself should only be done after making a recent backup
