Quick Reference

The SQL Server RTRIM() function removes trailing spaces from a string. Trailing spaces are spaces after (right of) the string.

SELECT RTRIM('1SMARTchicken    ') AS 'Right Trimmed';

Output

Right Trimmed
1SMARTchicken

Syntax

RTRIM(string)

SQL Notes:

  • Any work being done to modify the structure of a database or delete tables or the the database itself should only be done after making a recent backup
