Quick Reference

The SQL Server NULLIF() function returns NULL if two expressions are equal, or returns the first expression if they are not equal.

SELECT NULLIF('chicken', 'duck');

Output

chicken

Syntax

NULLIF(expr1, expr2)

SQL Notes:

  • Any work being done to modify the structure of a database or delete tables or the the database itself should only be done after making a recent backup
