Quick Reference

The SQL Server LTRIM() function removes leading spaces from a string. Leading spaces are spaces before (left of) the string.

SELECT LTRIM('     1SMARTchicken') AS 'Left Trimmed';

Output

Left Trimmed
1SMARTchicken

Syntax

LTRIM(string)

SQL Notes:

  • Any work being done to modify the structure of a database or delete tables or the the database itself should only be done after making a recent backup
