Quick Reference

The SQL Server DIFFERENCE() function compares two SOUNDEX values, and returns an integer. The integer value indicates the match for the two SOUNDEX values, from 0 (weak or no similarity) to 4 (strong similarity or identical).

SELECT DIFFERENCE('Chicken','Chick');

  • Any work being done to modify the structure of a database or delete tables or the the database itself should only be done after making a recent backup
