Quick Reference
The MySQL SUBSTR() function extracts a substring from a string, starting from any position.

| string | The string to extract from (required) |
| start | The start positio; if positive, extracts from the beginning of the string; if negative, extracts from the end of the string (required) |
| length | The number of characters to extract; if omitted, the whole string will be returned (from the start position) |
