Quick Reference
The MySQL PERIOD_DIFF() function returns the difference between two periods (both periods should be in the same format). The result will be in months.
SELECT PERIOD_DIFF(202300, 202310);
Output
PERIOD_DIFF(202300, 202310)

Parameter | Description |

period1 | A period in the format: YYMM or YYYYMM (required) |
period2 | Another period in the format: YYMM or YYYYMM (required) |
