Quick Reference
The MySQL MID() function extracts a substring from a string, starting at any position from the beginning or end of the string.
The following extracts a string from the original string, starting at position seven and includes seven characters.
SELECT MID('1smartchicken.com', 7, 7) AS 'Extracted String';

Parameters
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
string | The string to extract from (required) |
start | The start position; it can be both a positive or negative number; if it is a positive number, this function extracts from the beginning of the string; if it is a negative number, this function extracts from the end of the string (required) |
length | The number of characters to extract (required) |
