Quick Reference
The MySQL LOCATE() function returns the position of the first occurrence of a case-insensitive substring in a string. If the substring is not found within the original string, this function returns 0.
SELECT LOCATE('smart', '1smartchicken.com') AS Position;

Parameters
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
substring | The substring to search for in string (required) |
string | The string to be searched (required) |
start | The starting position for the search (position 1 is the default) |
