Quick Reference
The PHP ftp_site() function sends a SITE command to the FTP server.
Note
SITE commands vary from server to server, and are useful for handling OS specific features such as file permissions and group membership.
<?php
// connect and login to FTP server
$ftp_server = 'ftp.example.com';
$ftp_conn = ftp_connect($ftp_server) or die('Could not connect to ' . $ftp_server);
$login = ftp_login($ftp_conn, $ftp_username, $ftp_userpass);
// send command
if (ftp_site($ftp_conn, 'chmod 777 server-file.txt')) {
echo 'Command successfully';
}
else {
echo 'Command failed';
}
// close connection
ftp_close($ftp_conn);
?>

PHP Notes:
- When using PHP, single or double quotation marks are acceptable and work identically to one another; choose whichever you prefer, and stay consistent
- Arrays count starting from zero NOT one; so item 1 is position [0], item 2 is position [1], and item 3 is position [2] … and so on
