Quick Reference

The PHP ftp_login() function logs in to the specified FTP connection.

// connect and login to FTP server
$ftp_server = 'ftp.example.com';

$ftp_conn = ftp_connect($ftp_server) or die('Could not connect to ' . $ftp_server);
$login = ftp_login($ftp_conn, $ftp_username, $ftp_userpass);

// close connection
ftp_close($ftp_conn);
?>

Output

// connects, logs in, and closes an FTP connection

Syntax

ftp_login(ftp_conn, username, password)

Parameters

ParameterDescription
ftp_connSpecifies the FTP connection to use (required)
usernameSpecifies the username to login with (required)
passwordSpecifies the password to login with (required)

PHP Notes:

  • When using PHP, single or double quotation marks are acceptable and work identically to one another; choose whichever you prefer, and stay consistent
  • Arrays count starting from zero NOT one; so item 1 is position [0], item 2 is position [1], and item 3 is position [2] … and so on
