Quick Reference
The PHP array_search() function searches an array for a value and returns the key.

echo array_search('Maserati', $a);

Note
Arrays count starting from zero NOT one. So item 1 is position [0], item 2 is position [1], and item 3 is position [2] … and so on.

array_search(value, array, strict)
Parameters
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
value | Specifies the value to search for (required) |
array | Specifies the array to search in (required) |
strict | If this parameter is set to "true", then this function will search for identical elements (numbers are not identical to strings)

- When using PHP, single or double quotation marks are acceptable and work identically to one another; choose whichever you prefer, and stay consistent
- Arrays count starting from zero NOT one; so item 1 is position [0], item 2 is position [1], and item 3 is position [2] … and so on
