CSS Reference

Quick Reference

The opacity property describes the transparency level, where 1 is opaque and 0 is transparent. Any value in between will give partial transparency. The following is 50% transparent.

div {
    opacity: 0.5;
}
This text is actually pure black.

Note

Opacity will affect anything within the element the property is applied to. For instance, as shown in the above example, if you have text inside an element with the opacity set low, the text opacity will also be affected.

We’d like to acknowledge that we learned a great deal of our coding from W3Schools and TutorialsPoint, borrowing heavily from their teaching process and excellent code examples. We highly recommend both sites to deepen your experience, and further your coding journey. We’re just hitting the basics here at 1SMARTchicken.
